5 myths about the female body
The female body is incredible and a beautiful thing. However through history there has been many misconceptions and judgments placed on the female. Often this leaves many women feeling ashamed or confused about their own body.
Here is our list of 5 of the most ludicrous and laughable myths of all:
1. Too much penetration of the vagina will make it loose
Saying someone has a loose vagina is a way to slut shame someone but what a lot of people do not actually know is that it’s not correct. The vagina is actually a muscle and it is elastic. The vagina expands during arousal, so it becomes wider. Having sex or lots of sex will not make the vagina stay “loose” forever. It tightens when not aroused, which means if your vagina feels “loose” it’s a good thing as it means you are turned on and will make penetration a lot easier. Now if you’ve had children then the elasticity of the vagina becomes weaker so exercise like kegels will help strengthen that muscle.
2. The vagina is dirty
The vagina is actually self-cleaning and that’s what discharge is. Vaginal discharge is completely normal and is a sign that your vagina is cleaning itself. You do not need to douche to clean the vagina. Using water is actually the safest way to wash the vagina as it’s the most gentle way. You can use fem wash but make sure it’s a natural one as it can mess up the natural PH balance of the vagina which can cause issues such as thrush. Remember all vaginas have a scent and its completely normal and it does not mean it’s dirty. However if it has strong odour or you notice a change in colour or smell of vaginal discharge or feel any discomfort then visit your doctor.
3. The labia is meant to perfectly matched
Because of things like porn women begin to think that their bodies are meant to look a certain way and their bodies are wrong. Many women have labia’s which do not match and are not symmetrical which is totally normal.
4. The G-spot will get you to the great big O
The G-spot has been something everyone’s been whispering about for ages. Everyone is either desperately trying to find theirs or bragging about how good their g-spot feels and the orgasms are amazing. Whilst it has been proven to exist (lucky us). The whole thing is still a magical mystery and sparks up a lot of debate whether it’s an actual thing or not. Some women believe they have one and some don’t. Either way threes no reason to get hung up on it, just have fun. The best way to have an orgasm is a lot of foreplay and clitoral stimulation according to most sex experts.
5. Women have toothed vaginas
Probably the most bizarre myth about the female body from around the world is that vagina has teeth. This myth has been around for centuries and was adapted into a film called “teeth”. This myth is known as Vagina Dentata and was just more fear mongering. It was believed that men could not have sex with their wives as their penis would be bitten off.
