free the nipple
There’s too many rules and restrictions bound onto our boobs like an ill-fitting bra.

Its always been puzzling how men can walk about with their hairy chests out and no one would blink an eye lid. However, if a woman was to ever walk out on the street with her breasts full on display, nips and all, the whole street would stop and stare. Some would be outraged or disgusted. Some may even cheer her on or be in complete shock. The point is there would be some sort of reaction to a topless woman on the street. Whether be a good or bad one.
Why is this? Why is it okay for a man to do the same thing but a woman
must not? It’s not as if we are in the 18th century where life was a lot less
liberal. Now I admit, I would never walk out in public with my boobs
completely bare. But even if a woman’s nipples are poking out
through her shirt it’s a big deal and she must cover them up. Or a woman
breast feeding in public is a problem. The whole thing is bizarre. We all
have boobs we all know what they look like. So, what is the big deal if I
or any other woman wants to free the nip and go braless. Let her boobs
embrace some freedom for the day. There’s too many restrictions and rules
bounded onto our boobs like an ill-fitting bra. And that’s exactly what
started the Free the Nipple campaign in 2012. The growing frustrations,
restrictions and the double standards when it comes to women. As
society we have hyper-sexualised female nudity to the point where even
a little bit of cleavage is a big deal. The Free the Nipple Campaign was
started in hopes to “decriminalise female nudity” and the fight for equality Huffington Post
between all humans.
Women from all over the world will march in the streets topless to try and normalise female nudity. For anyone who has seen one of these protest in real life knows the attention and stir it causes. Which has meant that till this day the momentum and movement is still growing even celebrities such as Demi Moore and Bruce Willis’ daughter, Scout Willis have been fighting for the cause.
So, is it actually illegal for women to go out topless you ask? Well, there is an actually law that says women can be topless, however, if you were and it was as destructive behaviour to the public then you would probably be arrested.
It was only 80 years ago that men had this same fight of wanting to go topless. In 1930 four men were arrested for going topless on Coney Island. They fought and won their case and that is why till this day it is seen as socially acceptable for men to be topless. The women of Free the Nipple hope that one day this will be a reality for them too.
Here are what people are saying about the Nipple:
-
One of the founders of the movement believes that “women's breasts are not the problem. Sexual objectification is the problem. ... Breasts don't hurt children, breasts feed children, and it's the sexualization of women's bodies that's actually hurting children the most”
-
Miley Cyrus has been very vocal on the topic: "The nipple, what you can't show, is what everyone has, but the jug part that everybody doesn't, you're allowed to show underboob. I've never understood the way it works."
So, would you Free The Nipple? You have Miley’s approval. But all jokes aside this movement has become a lot more than just fighting for women to be topless. Its women taking control of their own bodies and having the same rights as men. If you want to join the movement or learn more about it then visit http://freethenipple.com/.
